My daughter picked this backpack out and just loves it. The padded shoulders make it comfortable and it's very stylish with a shiny pink material and sparkles with a glittery gold accent. The pencils were especially cool because they go with the theme of the backpack. Since ICarly is about her internet show - the backpack has LOL on it and all the pencils have the same theme - they are either emotions (different smiley faces) or acronyms like BFF, LOL, etc. The pencils bring a little fun to doing your homework!

Kai, Master of Fire, and his friend Nya must infiltrate the deadly Dark Fortress of Lord Garmadon in order to retrieve three of the golden weapons kept hidden there. But it won't be easy--standing in the way are Samukai, Bonezai, Chopov, and the powerful Garmadon himself.
With three levels of obstacles and traps, this 10-inch-tall fortress might be more than a match for our heroes. Only after you make it through can you take back the Shurikens of Ice, the Golden Scythe, and Nunchucks of Lightning and return them to the Spinjitzu Dojo.
Survive the Fortress Obstacles Help Kai and Nya navigate through the treacherous obstacles that fill the Dark Fortress. This was a lot of fun for my 7 year old to put together. I liked that there were clear divisions in the assembly instructions (and the pieces came in 5 sequential bags), but Ben did it all in one sitting. Then we played with it while watching Ninjago video clips on the website, Ninjago.com. He's always been big on Legos, but he particularly likes this set and storyline.
I give it 4 stars for "educational" because following assembly instructions is an important life skill.

First I would like to say that I am a big fan of Lego. They are relatively expensive toys, but the sets are fun for both children and adults and are worth it since they provide many hours of creative fun. My gripe with this set is the price point for what you get. Ninjago, the newest Lego theme is not in line with the other themed sets. Some, such as Lego Star Wars sets are more expensive than the other themes. Lego went too far with Ninjago. Garmadon's Dark Fortress is a set that contains a little over 500 pieces, yet it is priced similar to sets with double that amount. This set measures approximately 10" x 6" x 3" when built and could basically fit in a small shoe box. This is the highest price per piece ratio I have ever seen in a Lego set and Lego should be ashamed of themselves for this particular set. Kids love this stuff including the marketing blitz that Lego has created to sell this new theme, but parents should be aware of a company that seems intent on holding you... Read more
